Emily's Sleepover at Mom Mom and Pop Pop's

Andrew and I dropped Emily off at Mom Mom and Pop Pop's this afternoon. After a great spaghetti and meatball lunch, prepared by Mom Mom, we had some conversation, and then Emily unpacked all of her special items prepared for her sleepover adventure. When Andrew and I walked out of the house to leave, Emily was already having such a nice time that she decided she would rather play inside with Pop Pop, while Mom Mom walked us out.

We hope you all have a great time!

Emily's Preschool Orientation

Emily, Andrew, Bruce, and I attended Emily's orientation today where we met her teacher, Miss Rose, and her assistant teachers, Miss Sandy and Miss Mary Alice. During her visit, Emily walked up to each of her assistant teachers and asked them to play with her. Both teachers were receptive to playing and appeared to have fun with Emily. (I think they passed Emily's test!)

Emily starts school next Wednesday and looks forward to meeting kids at that time. She did not spend much time with the kids today as she was too busy with the adults. All four of us enjoyed our visit to the school and look forward to an exciting school year!

Emily's First Soccer Practice

Just yesterday we found out that Emily had her first practice today. When we arrived at the field, we thought the practice was the first of the season for everyone. As it turned out, this was the third week of practice. Since there was a mix-up with Emily's contact information we were not in the know. Fortunately, Emily jumped right in while Andrew and I became acquainted with other mommies and kids on the sidelines. After practice Emily said that she had a great time but does not think she can run very fast. I assured her that once she understands the sport her running will pick up (as she is indeed a fast runner!).

Andrew's Trip to L.B.I.

After we dropped off Emily, we took Andrew to L.B.I to spend time with our neighborhood friends, Ron and Cathy, their kids, and dog--Casey. On the beach, Bruce built a sandcastle while Andrew collected shells, and I (Mommy) lounged. Once finished at the beach, we headed to Ron and Cathy's beautiful shore house where we indulged in great food, drinks, and conversation. Thank you Ron and Cathy for being such hospitable hosts!

Emily's Sleepover at Grandma's

This afternoon we met Grandma at a parking lot where Emily got into her car with her carseat; her suitcase full of clothes, toys, and books; her Dora backpack full of toys and snacks; her 2 pillows; and her sleeping bag. Then they took off for their adventure.

During a later phone call check-in, Grandma reported that she and Emily went to a pottery studio to paint pottery, an old fashioned soda pop shop, McDonald's for takeout, and to a Halloween store for some festive items. Emily got on the phone for a moment to report that she was having a great time with Grandma. Enjoy, Emily and Grandma!

Animal Kingdom Zoo

Today we went to the Animal Kingdom Zoo with our friends, Cris and Landon. While there, we saw lots of monkeys, llamas, camels, giraffes, and wild dogs. Our most enjoyable moments were watching a baby monkey play, talking to a baby camel, and sitting on animal statues. We certainly had a nice time and look forward to going back again someday. Thanks for giving us a new, fun experience, Cris and Landon!

Emily's New Bed

Emily got her "big girl bed" a couple of weeks ago. We had some challenges finding a kiddie comforter to fit her bed; but, now that we have, she loves her bed very much. Take a look!

Hard at Work

Welcome to our blogspot. Here we will keep track of our daily adventures. We hope you enjoy!

Emily has been spending time increasing her reading word bank. We found some sticky notes at Target that show sight words, such as "the" and "have." We posted these inside her wardrobe so she can work on them whenever she wants. She really enjoys reading words and has made great progress.

Andrew is working hard on pottytraining. He has picked up on how Emily gets out of bed "one last time" to go to the bathroom so has started asking also. We think he just likes getting out of bed; whatever the case, he gets the job done and has managed to stay dry almost every night these past two weeks. We are still struggling with daytime potty training, though. Today I put some of Emily's old princess pull-ups in his drawer. He took one look and said, "Um, I am not going to wear these." Hmm...I am hoping the girly pull-ups will inspire him to train during the day!
